P&B Textiles
We're an international fabric company based in Portsmouth, RI. P&B sells wholesale to independent quilt shops around the country, with international distributors who sell P&B around the globe. The company has been specializing in fabrics for quilters since 1980.
The company originally started in 1963 with two owners, Charles Prager and Irwin Bear, and it was called Prager & Bear. Irwin Bear bought out his partner in 1978, becoming the sole owner. The name was later changed to P&B Fabrics, doing business as P&B Textiles. The company was bought in 2008 by Edward and David Odessa, whose family has been in the textile industry for generations.
In the 1960s and 70s, P&B Textiles acted as a distributor for fabrics produced by other companies. It began designing and selling its own fabrics in 1980, and hired its first full-time fabric designer, Jennifer Sampou, in 1989. The company now has several in-house designers, who work on their own collections as well as working with guest artists to create a stunning array of fabrics to please any and all quilters.
Benartex Textiles
SELIM BERNADETE – FOUNDER

Selim Benardete -affectionately a.k.a. Mr. B, was the Founder and President Emeritus of Benartex. Textiles have always been part of his life, as his father owned a textile business in Turkey. As a young man, Mr. Benardete came to the United States and received a Master’s Degree in Textile Engineering. He has been in the industry until his retirement in 2003.
Benartex was founded in 1980, originally selling specialty fabrics. However, after visiting some quilt shows, Mr. B “fell in love with quilting,” and eventually changed the Benartex focus to 100% cotton quilting fabrics. The rest is history, as Benartex soon became a name associated with fine quilting fabrics. Mr. Benardete commitment to the quilting world, his attendance at quilt shows and his availability to quilters earned him the name “The Quilter’s Friend.” His vision and determination to provide the very best fabrics has made Benartex the number one choice for quilters.

Studio E Fabrics
In the fall of 2010, Jaftex Corp., purchased Fabric Editions, Inc. which sells pre-cuts to the chain stores. Fabric Editions, Inc also had a new brand that they had developed for selling bolts of fabric into the independent market called Studio E Fabrics. This independent brand was moved to the New York office with the other independent line, Henry Glass Fabrics, and Scott Fortunoff was given this company to manage and build entirely on his own.
When Jaftex acquired Blank Quilting Corp, it was a natural conclusion to take the Blank sales force and also give them StudioE Fabrics to sell. This group of sales professionals is largely comprised of talented quilters, sewers, national instructors, authors, bloggers and pattern writers--a team of fabric aficionados that shares your passion for the quilting and sewing industry. We think this is a great asset--for us and for you, our valued customers!
Our sales representatives offer their expertise by partnering with shop owners, designers and consumers in the fabric selection process. The goal of all our companies is to impassion quilters and sewers of all levels to select the fabrics for their next quilting or sewing project from our collections that you, our valued shop owners, choose to carry in your stores. We have a vested interest in you and your shops' success.
To accompany and support the fabric collections, a vast selection of free patterns are available on this website for quilt shops and consumers to download, use and enjoy.
We enjoy meeting people in the quilting and sewing industry and love to see and hear about the creative things you make with our fabrics. Please share your pictures and comments with us on our social media venues! If there is anything our staff or sales team can do to make your fabric experience better, please contact us.
