Pioneer Quilt Show, Roseville, CA 2025

The Pioneer show definitely did not disappoint but getting there and setting up was a challenge as well with traveling back home through the torrential rain that hit So California.  I have had luck on my side with weather at every quilt show that I have ever done since 2017, the Pioneer Show, my luck ended!  The weather was great until I got to the 99 Highway as I was re-routed to the Cajon Pass to Palmdale and then through Tehachapi and getting to the 99 in Bakersfield. The wind, which was the beginning of the storm, kicked up the dust where visability was extremely low.  The rain started once I got to Interstate 5 and it was manageable but I was extremely worried about the totes getting wet inside.  I made it to the venue only to find it pouring rain with no shelter for unloading.  All of us vendor's were soaked but to my amazement, my fabric bundles stayed dry!

I sold a lot of product over the next 2 days and used my new POS which worked out fantastic except for the emails.  I thought that with sending a receipt to the customer's email that the system would save it but it did not.  Apparently, I needed to fill in the customer's name and email in a different section so, if you are reading this and you bought from me, can you please go to fantabulousbacks.com and click menu and then go to "contact information", Please put in your email and contact name.

So, I thought my trip to Roseville was tough, it was a mist compared to what I faced going home. Karen Banta came to my rescue, helped me load up the totes along with this very nice gentleman, who was helping with the teardown of the show.  they helped me get my truck loaded so that I can get on the road for the long drive home.  I always leave for home right after the show.  It was raining throughout the San Juaquin valley but manageable again.  I got to Grapevine about 9 pm and the sign warned of flooding at the summit.  I got to the summit and it started raining hard.  We were all escorted by CHP to Castaic.  I got onto the Foothill freeway and Heaven unleashed all the rain that was available!!!! Everyone on the freeway had hazard lights on.  No accidents but only because no one dared to go over 35 MPH, thank God, people wanted to survive!  I couldn't see the lines at all and thought my headlights went out.  The wiper's were useless.  I got home at almost 2 AM, I should've been home at midnight.  Stress doesn't describe the drive well enough and I couldn't fall asleep, the adrenaline was too much to fall asleep!

My husband, Jeff, unloaded the truck for me, dried off all the totes and stacked neatly in my large office before I even got out of bed.  Not one bundle was wet!!

Next time, I will stay overnight at Karen's! I stayed with her during the show.
